Taveuni Palms, Fiji

Whether you are on your honeymoon, celebrating a 50th anniversary or just looking for a resort that is romantic. This is the place to travel, relax and enjoy.

The Taveuni Palms in Fiji is an intimate retreat offering two private guest houses, a secluded sandy beach, and even a freshwater swimming pool. The island has many spectacular things to offer, such as scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, and many other vacation activities.

The Taveuni Island has always been known for its unique and colorful sea life, tropical fish, and amazing varieties of soft and hard coral. The Rainbow Reef, Great White Wall, Purple Wall, and Zoo dive sites are all within easy reach of the Taveuni resort.

The Great White Wall reef offers a tunnel with two exits, one at 33 feet and another at 88 feet. When you swim through it, you’ll notice a white glow that is given off by the soft corals that seem to surround you.

You’ll also find two dive centers that are minutes from Taveuni Palms, which offer you dive equipment and certified diving instructors. From beginners to expert divers, you can have a lot of fun scuba diving on your beach vacation.

Rooms and suites The two seperate beachfront villas at Taveuni Palms in Fiji come with their own staff to help make your vacation a bit more relaxing. The staff will make your dreams come true, as they offer full room support.

Each seperate villa offers a pool, two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, and a very unique indoor/outdoor bathroom. The outdoor deck is equipped with chairs so that you can spend time outside as well, taking in the surrounding views of the ocean. The spectacular sunsets will turn into tropical nights – with stunning starlit skies.

Your personal maid at the villa will provide you with daily cleaning service, laundry service, fresh flowers, and evening turn down. The maids here are very professional, making your stay at the Taveuni Palms in Fiji one you’ll remember for years to come.

The resort will also provide you with your own private chef, kitchen, and bar staff who will provide your daily meals, which are included in the cost of your stay. This way, you don’t have to eat out – your food will be prepared for you at the resort.

Traveling and Getting to Taveuni. To get to Taveuni Palms, fly to Nadi International airport in Fiji. From there, catch a connecting flight to Taveuni Island where the Taveuni Palms staff will meet you at the airport, five minutes from the hotel.

Of course, wherever you travel, it is highly recommended that you take out travel insurance before embarking on any vacation. Unfortunately, without insurance, you have little recourse if you have to suddenly cancel your trip due to illness or other unforeseeable circumstances. Realize that resorts like this will expect to be paid no matter what. However, with travel insurance, you can recoup some or all of your costs if travel and vacation plans change. Travel insurance is very affordably priced, so please check out your options.

A great little tropical escape for girlfriends. (Or guy friends if you can pull off the Bosom Buddies thing). And it’s short enough, so that you’ll still be friends by the end of the vacation.

The promise they make is that the weekend will be full of fun, sun, and the ultimate in girl’s bonding time for a getaway you will never forget – it’s all about hanging tight with your very best friends and experiencing everything that’s a part of a Beaches Resort vacation – from scuba diving to delectable dining and events created just for you . . . and so on . . . you get the idea.

My sister found out about this BFF getaway and thought it would be the perfect thing to celebrate her birthday with a close friend. She ended up bringing me instead. haha. We were scheduled to go in October, then hurricane Ike hit and closed down the entire island, so we re-scheduled for the May getaway.

I was very excited about the trip. Judging by the pictures on the Beaches website, this was a pristine resort, with impeccable service, perfect accommodations, perfect surroundings, and something that concerned me a little . . . PERFECT people, with their perfect, little, stain free, smiling children.

The pictures of young, beautiful, flawless girls laughing over their island drinks made me wonder if I was going to stick out like a sore thumb in my No Boundaries bathing suit from Wal-Mart. This did cause me to begin impulse buying suits on eBay for a teeny bit. When we arrived, I breathed a sigh of relief to see how normal the other girls were. I suspect they thought the same thing, because I could see the relief on everyone’s faces at the meet and greet, as their stiff, unsure body language loosened immediately.

There was such a wide range of women at the getaway. From average, young girls looking to have fun, to middle aged professionals that needed an excuse for a long overdue vacation, to stay-at-home moms that missed their kids, cause it was the first time they had been away from them. They were ALL shapes and sizes and every age. And everyone got along very well.

BFF Getaway Activities

You can pack your schedule with lots of activities they have on the itinerary, or skip all of them to just relax. We picked out the things that sounded like fun to go to, but ended up attended a few extra events just to hang out with some of the new friends we made. Here were some of the events we had to choose from:

- A welcome cocktail reception with champagne and hors d’ oeuvres
- Morning beachside namaste yoga (each day)
- Watersports (each day)
- Island dance lessons (each day)
- Yoga class for beginners (each day)
- Skin care lessons be Wilma Schumann (each day)
- Sunset sail away Catamaran cruise (highly recommended!)
- BFF beach bash (this is basically the girls attending the Caribbean cookout)
- Dancing with the stars at Club Liquid
- Meditation class
- Beach bonfire PJ party (the tables of various chocolate desserts were worth going for!)
- Farewell dinner

This was just the itinerary for the girls getaway. There were also all of the other happenings all over the resort that you could opt for. Some of the girls decided to have a jacuzzi party, while some of the girls stayed to themselves, and didn’t attend any of the events.

The BFF package deal was great. We stayed 5 days, and I honestly wanted to move in forever. I thought about forming crude shelter in a tree so I could stay. The little extras we got with the bff deal were a pleasant surprise too.

- Catamaran Sunset Cruise (an $80.00 value)
- $200.00 spa credit per person
- A free 5×7 professional photo
- Welcome package with little things like sunblock, a hat, a cd, books and lipgloss in a Beaches tote bag.

The Catamaran Sunset Cruise was my favorite activity! They actually hired a fun staff to enjoy the cruise with us, make sure everyone was having a good time, and keep our drinks refilled. There was a DJ playing party music, an open bar, and refreshments set out. They anchored at one spot so we could dive into the water to swim or snorkel. A good time was had by all, even if it was just sitting on the sidelines watching the party, while a photographer snapped away. Some of those pictures were fuh-ney! The sunset was gorgeous out there too! It was the perfect backdrop for frame worthy pictures!

The Spa Experience

I used my spa credit on an 80 minute west Indian massage valued at $170.00. They credited the remaining $30.00 towards the internet that I purchased for the room, which was $38.00. The massage was so relaxing. The description was “Our signature West Indian Massage transports you on a relaxing Caribbean journey that combines a full-body massage with island elements such as warm river stones, tropical rain forest scented mists, and a sensuous white-sand exfoliation for your weary feet.”

Then my sister heard from a girl that it involved swaddling, cuddling, and scratching, and told me I should switch to another massage because it sounded strange. They teased me, saying the masseuse was gonna rock me and cuddle me, maybe climb up on the table with me, or lay on top of my back. Then there was the issue of scratching, since I was sunburned from the intense Caribbean sun. My curiosity caused me to keep the appointment because I thought that sounded too bizarre to be true, and if it was . . . haha OH BOY! the story I’d have to tell!

It was not how they described it. The only close to strange part was the hair pulling portion of the massage, which felt good in a “This feels borderline kinky” kind of way. She really pulled my hair hard too! I was taken by surprise on that one. Other than that, it was soooooo relaxing. I walked out of there all euphorically disoriented, like, “Where am I? Where am I going? . . . Am I drooling?”

All in all, the Beaches Friends Forever Girl’s Getaway is the perfect vacation if you want to get away with your gal pals (or sister) for a fun, and relaxing experience in luxury. We had such a great time, and made good memories that I will never forget. Especially the inappropriate laughter.

Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol is the coastline of the area of Andalucia in southern Spain. The Costa del Sol and its varied coastline runs from Gibraltar to the holiday resort of Nerja. It is a very popular destination and has many resorts from the luxury of Marbella and its marina, Puerto Banus full of expensive yachts and motor boats to the more family orientated holiday destinations such as Estepona and Rincon de la Victoria. It is also the preferred choice of many looking for spanish golfing holidays, as over 30 of Europe’s best golf courses can be found a short distance inland.

There is a huge choice of vacation accommodation here from Costa del Sol holiday rentals run by private owners to large resort hotels.

For those looking for a more traditional Spanish holiday, the beautiful ‘white villages’ (pueblos blancos) can also be found not far from the coast with their holiday accommodation comprising of rustic fincas, traditional villages houses to Spanish Cortijos set within olive groves. Places such as Competa, Mijas and Casares and the slightly larger towns of Gaucin, Ronda and Jimena de la Frontera.

Costa de la Luz

The Costa de la Luz, known as the Coast of Light is situated at Spain’s most southern point. It is an unspoilt stretch of coastline with many lovely beaches and has not yet become a part of the mass tourism found in other areas such as the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol.

Tarifa is on the southern edge of the Costa de la Luz and is very popular for windsurfing. Jerez de la Frontera is further up the coast and is home to the famous names of Gonzalez Byass and Pedro Domecq for their sherry production. It is also well known for its equestrian school, the Real Escuela Andaluza de Arte Ecuestre.

A popular day trip from this area is to Seville, the fourth largest city in Spain. It has a mix of architecture and many sights worth visiting such as the Cathedral and La Giralda, the Cathedral’s bell tower which was first built in 1198 and improved upon in 1568. From here there are wonderful views over the city.

Costa Tropical

The Costa Tropical is situated between the Costa de Almeria and and the Costa del Sol. The climate has an average temperature of 20 degrees and approximately 320 days of sunshine a year enabling the area to develop a large fruit industry, with many exotic fruits. The oldest town and one of the most popular resorts is Almunecar. The old town has a Moorish castle and a museum. There are several very good beaches and the resort has very good facilities. From Almunecar it is approximately only 75km from the historic city of Granada with its Alhambra Palace

The resorts of Salobrena and Motril are also to be found on the Costa Tropical. Salobrena has a restored Arab castle with a backdrop of traditional white houses and has wonderful views of the Sierra Nevada.

Costa de Almeria

The Costa de Almeria has a varied and unspoilt coastline. The town of Mojacar has lovely beaches as well as a traditional ‘white village’ which holidaymakers are always keen to visit. Roquetas del Mar is a popular tourist resort and further south is the developing town of Almerimar which has wide, sandy beaches, water sports and is becoming well known for its golf course.

Almeria, a Moorish city, has the 10th century Alcazaba castle, which overlooks the old part of the town, and is well worth a visit.

There is an airport at Almeria with flights from the UK. This provides quicker travelling time to your holiday accommodation on the Costa de Almeria.

So you are thinking of visiting northern Italy in December, but you’re not sure what to see and what to do. Don’t despair; there are lots and lots of special events that simply aren’t available in the good old summertime. Here are a few of them. Get rolling; December is almost upon us. We start our virtual tour in the northwest and work our way east. There are so many things to see and do in northern Italy in December that this is the first of three articles.

We start our December Italian tour in the bilingual Aosta Valley tucked in the mountains between France and Switzerland. In the regional capital Aosta December means the week-long International Hot Air Balloon Encounter that culminates in the ascent of Mont Blanc. You’ll find Living Nativity Scenes almost everywhere in the region. On December 30 in the alpine resort of Breuil-Cervinia at the base of the Matterhorn you can enjoy a torch lit procession on skis followed by a fireworks display. Then it’s south to Piedmont.

Turin, Piedmont’s capital and largest city, is a great place to enjoy Christmas lights; the season runs from late November through early January and covers about 12 miles (20 kilometers). During December enjoy its Mercatino di Natale (Christmas Market) in the Borgo Dora neighborhood. It’s open all week and on the weekend hosts music and entertainment for children. Everyone will enjoy the Christmas tree and nativity scene. This is not the place to discuss Piedmont options for skiing. But should you choose Alagna Valsesia which is internationally known for off-piste skiing make sure to be there on Christmas Eve for its Ice Nativity scene. And wherever you go and whatever you do, check out the fine Piedmont wines including Barolo, Barbaresco, and Barbera.

Milan, the capital and largest city in Lombardy, celebrates the Festa di Sant’Ambrogio (Festival of Saint Ambrose) on December 7. the opening of the Opera season at the world famous La Scala. Make sure to visit the Oh bej! Oh bej! (oh how beautiful) street fair around the Basillica di Sant’Ambroglo. Unlike the opening of La Scala, you won’t need unattainable tickets for the fair. The city’s historic center hosts a Christmas market from early December through January 6. Milan celebrates Christmas with beautiful nativity scenes also found in many Lombardy towns and villages. It’s a great city to enjoy New Year’s Eve.

The Lombardy region of northwestern Italy is a great place for winter sports. The winter is fairly cold and even rainy in the mountains. But don’t let that stop you. This region is home to many cycling clubs such as the Viale Monza group that meets four mornings a week to cycle from the Piazzale Martesana (in front of the Gaetano Pini). And here’s the best news for many of us: All levels of cyclists are welcome. You’ll find another Christmas market in the Livigno Resort of Sondrio, Lombardy on November and December weekends. In December this resort holds an Art in Ice competition in which ten international teams transform a huge block of pressed snow into a sculpture. These sculptures remain on display until the spring sun melts them.

Sanibel Island may be small; it’s barely 12 miles long, it’s only three miles wide and it has just two main roads. But if you are searching for the best beach get-away, then this tiny sandy package is your ideal travel destination.

The island is located off the southwest coast of Florida and just west of Fort Myers. It’s an easy flight from anywhere in the USA. The Southwest Florida International Airport, also located in Fort Myers, opened in 2005. The new and modern terminal offers convenient traveling. Located close to Interstate 75 and U.S. 41 and with car rental facilities within the terminal, vacationers can be sunning on the beach within an hour of landing. Several airlines offer non-stop flights such as AirTran Airways, Delta, JetBlue, US Airways and USA 3000 Airlines.

And when the flying and driving is over – it’s time to relax and enjoy the unique barrier island. If quaint inns and cottages are more your style, there are several wonderful places to stay. The Beach Cottages of Sanibel Island, the Shalimar Resort and the Gulf Breeze Cottages are reflective of old time Florida and are just a few of the many choices available.

If you would rather have a little sumptuousness then indulge in some of Sanibel’s finest resorts. Dripping with amenities and luxury the South Seas Island Resort (Captiva), the Casa Ybel Resort and the Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa offers the best of the beach and the resort vacation.

The island is known for it’s beautiful white sandy beaches and amazing shells but there is more to Sanibel than sand. There are two local theaters, The Florida Repertory Theatre and The Schoolhouse Theater – both offer distinctive entertainment. Add live music or dance performances to your agenda by visiting Big Arts cultural center. It’s worth a trip to the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village Inc. to step back in time and learn what made the island become the amazing place it is today.

Of course there are the classic beach vacation entertainment standards – only on Sanibel they’re even better. Fishing is more than fishing and boating is more than boating. Area fishing captains will take you on a fishing excursion to remember. You can stick to inshore or back bay fishing or travel out into the Gulf for a little off shore fishing. Either way, the water is every color of blue and green and the fish will hopefully be biting. Enjoy catching the local species (depending on the season) of Snook, Redfish and Tarpon or go offshore to wrangle with cobias, barracudas and sharks.

If you’d rather be more up close and personal with the local water life snorkel and scuba dive facilities dot the island. There is also kayak and canoe rentals as well as parasailing – all of which are a great way to experience the view.

Or just come and visit the island, sit in the sun and collect some shells. Walk the warm beach and take in the waves. Watch the most amazing sunsets and feel the sand between your toes. Do nothing but relax and enjoy Sanibel Island, one minute at time.

Among the many resorts on offer there is something to satisfy all needs and tastes, from non-sailing parents with keen children, to expert racers wanting to test their skills in a sunnier climate.
Operators and resorts Different companies tend to focus on a different emphasis, designed for different needs. Among the many resorts on offer there is something to satisfy all needs and tastes, from non-sailing parents with keen children, to expert racers wanting to test their skills in a sunnier climate. Sailing holidays are one of the fastest growing sectors of the travel market. With competition between operators being tough, all strive hard to offer a quality product.

Most resorts are water sport focused with the latest equipment and boats. Others have the emphasis of multiple activities, with sailing and windsurfing being one of a dozen activities all given equal focus. This type of holiday is ideal for families or a couple wanting to try water sports.

All resorts follow the same basic outline with stunning locations, a fun and laid-back atmosphere and knowledgeable staff giving a high standard of service on the water and back on land. Plus, of course, there is plenty of opportunity to make new friends, sample local culture as well as try new fun activities such as water skiing and kite surfing.

Something new? Dinghy racers will appreciate sailing in the sun with warm waters, as well as the opportunity to try different boats such as singlehanders or skiffs. It’s also a good way to access moving to a different class before committing yourself to spending several thousand pounds on a new boat. Those who are not interested in such energetic activities, or who just want a break from sports, can relax by the pool or, in some locations, take a trip to the health spa.

Club holidays are a popular way to start sailing or improve your skills. An important change over the last few years is that almost all operators now offer RYA tuition, but not all offer the full range of dingy sailing and windsurfing courses. Also, a number of clubs offer introductory yacht crewing and skippering courses as well as tuition. Some clubs also offer one week in a club, with tuition if required, followed by a week on a flotilla, during which you will cruise on your own boat.

Something for everyone Most companies will offer a range of child care and activities for small children to teenagers, and sometimes this is free. The range of sports and activities on offer means families with the most diverse interests will find plenty to do. At the same time, operators know that some singles and couples don’t want to be surrounded by children on holiday. This is why some resorts offer child free zones and adult only weeks, this offers much appeal for couples and groups of friends.

Final thoughts Remember to research your resort carefully. Make sure it satisfies all your wishes. With some companies this mean reading between the lines, but others will be more obvious. When comparing prices, look for what’s included in the headline price as this differs greatly and extras can make a big difference to the final cost of your holiday.

Planning to visit Las Vegas or any other vacational resort where casinos are a major portion of their business? I have just the thing for you. Here, I will show you how to pass off as a High Roller and collect many complimentary items and gifts.

What is the Secret?
The Secret is that you have to make them believe you are rich and love gambling. In short you have to impersonate a High Roller.

Why?
Hotels love high rollers because these players leave behind thousands of dollars each visit. And the real cool part about this is that if you act the role, casinos will lavish you with the same gifts and complimentary items that a real High Roller would receive.

How ?
It is not that difficult to fool the hotel and resorts with some finesse and true self-confidence. It can be done.

1) The Way you Dress:
Elegant and smart is the way to go. Opt out of the baseball cap, t-shirt and jeans. Try and wear a suit or at least a regular buttoned shirt with an elegant dark jacket. It was Shakespeare who said that the clothes maketh a man, and so too, when going to a hotel resort. They judge you according to how you dress, so dress according to the role.

2) A Large Pad of Notes:
Yes. Just like in the movies. Carry a large bundle of notes with you and keep them in plain sight. You do not have to really take with you that much. Instead, take a few notes and place them at the top and at the bottom of real note-size paper cuttings. Just remember to never expose this while you are in the casino. Use other notes you’re your wallet instead. But do it nonchalantly so that none of the casino personnel will notice.

3) Always Flash Your Notes Around: No matter where you go, whether its to the hotel restaurant for lunch or for to the bar. They will be watching. From time to time, use that money to play at a range of table games or video game and bet some of that money. Remember you must use some of your money to play but just do not use all of it.

4) Play Complicated Games:
This is one of the more problematic things to do and requires some training at home. Learn on your own how to lay and how to bet on the high rolling games such as roulette, baccarat and craps. You could also play poker or Texas holdem in one of the larger ante tables, but in any case stick to your plan and you will soon reap the flowers.

Conclusion:
Above, I have outlined some of the more practical methods by which one can save money by receiving gifts from the casino. These gifts range from casino comps (free money to play), room deals that can get nearly free and many others such as free drinks, clothes, coupon to stores in Las Vegas and many more. Note that what you are doing here is completely legal provided you don’t take up a false name or falsify your passport card.
